I have a chance to buy a Ridgid 4331 planer for $300 or a Porter Cable 305tp for $200 which way would you go??
Thanks, Syd

If you look on Craigslist, you can find a Dewalt 735 for $350 or less.

If both are in good shape I would go with the Ridgid. I have always heard good things about the Ridgid. I haven't heard anything about the PC.

Not in my area. I've been watching daily for years.:(

Same here. There are not very many good tablesaws, planers, or jointers on Craigslist in my area either.

The 305 is another version of the Delta 22-540, which was introduced about twenty years ago. It will SNIPE! Lowes clearanced the last of the Delta 305's for about $199 a few years back.

I would go for the Ridgid. I have the Ridgid and really enjoy the quality, finish, end results, extra blades, and anti-snype lock feature.

Porter Cable now is not Porter Cable way back when. The Ridgid ain't great, but if you had to have one....

I'd wait for a deal on the Dewalt 735. Or pay full price and get it over with. Had mine since they came out. No problems at all. Best present my wife ever bought for me.

Put a want ad in the Tools section of Craigslist. Someone has one they don't use but are too lazy to put up for sale.

On the 22-540, the snipe can be eliminated by picking up on the board as it clears the outfeed.
