This is my first real attempt at Greene and Greene ..

http://i335.photobucket.com/albums/m455/jokerbird_photo/P1020613.jpg

Its Afromosia, which is a wood I am starting to really like .. With Ebony accents..

This table is a copy of a design by Darryl Peart .. My wife fell in love with it ... I told her I would do my best and she is happy .. I chose African Teak because I had some, and I think its in the same " era " as Genuine Mahogany .. if that makes sense..

I think I made the buckles too wide.. Too late now .. If I did it again, I would make them 3/8" or even 5/16" .. They are not as easy to make as they appear .. I found the ebony tore out with the router .. which makes expensive scraps..

I love the look of Quartered Afromosia. This is my second project and I really think there will be a third.. The wood is amazing ... not the easiest wood to work with, and everything in my shop is dull now .. but I love the appearance .. Its really heavy and really hard. The top is actually made of 4 pieces which I spent way too long figuring out how to hide the seams .. I really like that particular process..

This is one of those projects .. it looks simple, but it literally drug on forever .. The wood is mean spirited.. and there is a pile of tiny polished ebony plugs.. Which is more work than I first assumed .. Loads of detail.. 8 x Mortise and tenon joints.. Good project for learning .. I see some flaws and think I could do better next time .. but my wife is happy ..

Thanks for looking .

Don't be so hard on yourself.... it is beautiful! :D
Besides...all of us (at all skill levels) pick a part our own work more than anyone. I think the variances are what makes something special.
Very, very nice. I would love to build something like that. I just haven't tackled tables yet, or fine furniture for that matter, which I would definitely put your work in that class.
Thanks for sharing!

Rick,

Your table turned out great. You did a fantastic job of matching the grain for the top, it looks like one board. I really like the Green and Green style. What finish did you use?

The finish is varnish .. made by Helmsman. No stain.. I like the natural color of the wood.

Thanks ..
