Perspective wise, the height of this burl is approx. 60"

And yes, I have a call into the owner. This and another huge walnut are dead, I just hope for not too long.

If you zoom in and see a substance on the trunk of the tree, don't be alarmed, that's just my drool.............

Sorry for the poor quality picture, I was a bit excited.

Nice...hope to hear you get that and the other usable parts of the tree. I have a couple various trees in my yard with burls...my so-called friends tell me their dead, but they keep making leaves every year!! Remember, it's not fair to call it dead when just free of leaves in the fall!

Tim,

The other walnuts in the yard had plenty of leaves........

That's my story....

You might want to look carefully at the stump when/if you get the tree. The bottom 5 ft or so is usually treasured for gunstocks because of the wonderful grain structure inside the stump.

A few years ago I built a set of speakers with walnut burl veneer. Absolutely spectacular! They get tons of comments.
I've never had the pleasure of turning burl. <I'd be drooling too> Enjoy!

But I was lucky enough to have a buddy drop off about 1000 lbs.

Friend - hey, I'm cutting down a tree, want the wood?
Me - No, have tons, can't store any more, full up, seriously...but thanks.
Friend - its black walnut.
Me - I have TONS of room! When are you coming by?

:)
