I'm not near my lathe right now but was wondering if anyone knew the number of grooves in the belt.

Thanks,

Mike

I don't know the nunber of grooves, but someone awhile back gave the info. on getting a new belt
Gates Micro-V300J [762mm] $8.66
I haven't tried to see if that is correct or not but whoever put that info out said it was.

Ha - this is why I asked. The Gates Micro-V300J belt can be had with 6, 10, or 16 teeth (grooves?). Rick's response makes me think it's the 6. I found out there is a place across the street from my work that sells them. Thanks for the info - I didn't want to spend $35 for a spare belt.

Just for future reference you need to add a 6 to the end of the part # "Gates Micro-V300J6" (to get the correct # of teeth). This info got me a spare belt for just under $10 versus $32.50 + shipping from Delta & others.

How long is the belt you referenced? My current lathe uses a 6 rib belt that is 21 inches long if it were laid out end to end. Do you know the length of the one for the 46-460........I just purchased one and it will be delivered next week.

Mike you probably right. Guess it depends on if you count the high ribs or low grooves. But 6 makes sense if that is the way they describe the belts. I will put this part number in my manual so I can find the information when I need to replace one.
