I don't do many bowls,as you can tell by the pics. I did think that the wood made up for the bowl though.:) This is finished using blo, lacquar, wax, and buff, and it's 10x 4 3/4. The rim has been under cut, making it 5/16 thick. thanks as always and all C&C welcome245291245292245290245289

I like it. Both the shape and the wood.

Steve, I don't want to be too critical, but you're wrong. The form/worksmanship holds it's own even without the beautiful wood. Getting the undercut without a lot of tearout is tough. You did a good job.

Form and wood work well together! You should be happy with this one!

Very traditional shape might put some off, but I reckon its works just fine and a great piece of burl for any bowl.

See, black gum IS good for something...............:D

My first NE bowl was black gum. It didn't look anywhere as nice as this, BTW.

I'm wondering what this would look like with a soft, satin finish...............

Thanks for sharing.

The wide flat rim give the appearance of a thicker bowl and I can see the surprise when someone pickes it up and finds a much lighter bowl. Nice ring on bottom also. Excellent job.

Very nice and makes me want to take the chain saw to the black gum in my back yard.
