View Full Version : Endgrain Sissoo Bowl with Feet

This is my first footed bowl. It was turned from the base of a small sissoo crotch log. The crotch is at the bottom of the bowl, you can see the 2 piths.
The log was green so this was much easier turning than the endgrain ash bowl last weekend! Since it's a narrow bowl, I cheated and used my hollowing system to hollow the inside.

I used my Foredom to carve the feet, and I have to say that not only does sissoo turn like butter, it carves like butter too!

It's 6 1/2" wide by 4 1/2" tall, finish is just a coat of antique oil so far.

Very nice bowl, the short feet lift the bowl up just enough. Good job.

Hollowing systems are the answer to smaller deep bowls of this shape.

Wow - what a cool bowl! I really like the form, the grain and the carved feet! You should be very happy with this one!

Great form on this one. Wood... Ok looking but the form is the ticket here!
