Howdy. Here is a piece of pecan crotch wood I finished up yesterday. Sanded to 320 and then buffed with red, no white diamond. Ren wax.

That'll hold some M&M's Jeremy!! Finish fits that bowl well.

Jeremy,
Thats a nice simple shape, and I like it. Finish looks good. I love to turn and finish pecan. The feather is perfect.

That is a beauty. Form and finish look great.

I like the form! Think I would have used an oil to bring out the feather a bit more. I do like the matte finish you have.

Thanks folks.

Hey Steve. I might go back and put some on.

I think it would really help make the grain pop - just make sure you remove all the Ren wax first.

Jeremy,

I agree with Steve that oil would pop the grain. My normal finishing process is to buff with Tripoli after sanding to 400, and then use multiple coats of a oil/poly wipe on/off buffing with Tripoli between and after last coat, followed then with Ren Wax. I agree that the Tripoli brings out the grain some and it does add some reddish tint to the wood, but the oil does make the grain pop. I have never tried to just use the Ren Wax after the first buffing.

Looks great Jeremy! Ditto on some oil to pop the feather.

Beautiful! I love the wood grain and I like that it's a little thicker than most bowls....
