Recommendation for Penetrating Finish Exterior Teak

These are on a large yacht I've been taking care of for a number of years. Varnish is out as they would get banged and nicked up. Cetol is probably out too just for looks.

The trim boards get a lot of sun although they are covered when owners are not on board. Chairs get some shade and get put away also.

The biggest problem we've had is mildew. The trim board seems more of a problem than the chairs. We used a few oils, not sure exactly the names. I wonder if tung oil attracts mildew less than linseed oil and others. We had luck with the mildew w/ something called Semco, but it gave little protection and may be out of production. It did not mildew at all though.

Mildewciides are available to add to tung, if that's the route you want to pursue, Try talking to your finish suppliers about 2K's with uv inhibitors and HALS additives as well as watersoulblr HALS for direct application to the teakwood itself, don't forget to always give the teak a washcoat of 5% phosphoric acid to flaot the natural oils to the surface and then heavily wipe with methanol a couple of times to make the oils/waxes inert, sand lightly and then apply the finish.
