I've been asked to build a Canopy bed for my Granddaughter's American Girl doll. I've got some idea's about the bed but were do I get the mattress and pillow?

When I built one for my daughter (many years ago), my wife took care ofthe mattress and pillow. She has some sewing skills and I think she just covered a bit of foam the right size to fit the bed. Pillows are almost a no brainer for anyone who has sewed.

Fly somewhere and keep the pillow. Should be right size for the mattress. :D

Seriously, though, I second the idea of getting your wife involved in the project.

My wife did the same thing when we made furniture for our granddaughter and her American Girl Dolls.245023

I used 2"foam from a fabric store. It's available in chair seat sizes, which are just about right. I was able to cut it on my STS.

I made a hollow box out of 1/8" ply for the box spring, and my MIL covered it. Then, she made the matching mattress, sheets and comforter. (This was for a Barbie house, but same same - just a different scale). Oh, and I made the pencil post bed to go with it!
