View Full Version : Looking for a jewelry box

I may have promised more than I can deliver for Christmas.

I intended to build a nice, multi-drawer jewelry box for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. Unfortunately, having all my shop tools still boxed up after moving, and now having an unanticipated knee replacement on Nov. 5, it looks like that won't be happening if it is left to me.

I am considering buying one for her, but I will NOT buy the vinyl/cardboard crap in most stores. Instead, I am looking for boxes made by real woodworkers from real wood.

If you are aware of any sources who might be able to produce something you would be proud to give to YOUR daughter in law, would you be nice enough to route them to me? And if this is you, that is good too!

I'll be laid up and on some really good drugs for a few days after Monday morning, so if I don't get back right away, please understand

Thanks.

Joe

there was a generic crafts site called etsy

No idea if this helps...

It's highly unlikely that you will be making this jewelry box yourself while recovering from a knee replacement. I didn't even go into my shop for almost 3 months after having it done. Maybe, like Richard suggested, you can have someone else make the box for you, or just promise to make it for her for next year. She will understand, under the circumstances, and I think she would prefer to have it made by you and not someone else. I had promised to make a toy horse barn for my grand daughter, but it didn't get built until almost 1 year after I had promised it.

I've had both of my knees replaced one year apart, and spent most of the first month after each replacement in a recliner, hurting too much to even watch much television. It gets better after the first month, but it takes months to come back from this surgery. Do the exercises that the rehab specialist provides, (but don't over do it) and you will discover that they really make a difference.

Good luck with the surgery. PM me if you want to know more.

Thanks for the encouragement, Charley. As for promising for next year, I already did that for LAST year...and ended up with having my left shoulder replaced in May, then my RIGHT knee replaced the end of October, 2011! Running out of joints to use as excuses!

I have one for sale that has a flip top but not multiple drawers.

It's 4.5 X 10.5 X 16. There is a removable tray with 18 compartments.

When the tray is removed, you have access to 24 compartments at the bottom of the box.

The box is walnut. I was going to sell it at the craft fair we have at work in December, but I lost my job.

Good luck on surgery and I hope you have a speedy recovery.
