Vase and Jam Chuck

I needed something to hold this rather thin natural edge vase to clean up the bottom, and I have been planning to make an adjustable jam chuck for quite some time. So here it is. You might recognize the cone as half of a roller from the front of a boat trailer. Also the design similarity to the rubber chucky. It worked good.

Great job on the jam chuck. What's the wood?

I rescued the branch from a freshly cut firewood pile. No idea what the wood is, but plan to talk to the guy who did the cutting and find out as I want to try again with more offset base to rim and cutting the rim thinner to see if it warps more.
