I recently took classes at Conover Workshops in Parkman, Ohio. Ernie Conover is plane guru. The information he gives and his easy manner is what made the weekend really productive. Ernie's plane collection is something to see, by the way. On the 16th, I took the "Handplane Basics" class which helped me get my plane tuned up and ready for action. On the 17th, "Hand Cut Dovetails" was the course. Ernie makes it look easy, which they are. I just need to split the line....

You are right that it is always a pleasure taking one of his classes. I was there last fall. He is a class act ! I actually took a finishing class taught by someone else but during breaks he would talk to anyone about any subject and any problem. He was teaching turning that weekend . I'd go back in a second .

Thanks for the review, Michael. I want to take his Shaker rocking chair class sometime. Just couldn't make it work this year. Perhaps in 2006.
