How do you store your router bits so that they are easily accessible, protected against damage and show or display their profile? I have lots of bits and sometimes can't find the one I want or have to go through several to find the exact profile I'm trying to duplicate. Thinking of making small sample blocks with the profile and then drilling a hole in the block for the bit. But then I have to find a way to neatly store and display the blocks!

So, how do you do it?

This is my router table. The drawers on the right are from top to bottom: 1 storage for the Incra fence manual and templates. 2 router bits. 3 router bits. Here is a picture of my storage. The rubber grommets are from McMaster-Carr and come in 1/2 and 1\4 " inside diameters.244629244630 Both drawers have been finished out with grommets that fill the whole drawer, thought I don't have near all the holes filled. There is a sheet of solid foam in the bottom to cushion the shank of the bits. I also put some packets of the silica gel to hopefully absorb moisture so no rust will form on the shanks. So far it has worked well. I keep the tools for the fence, lift and router behind the left door.244631 Since these pictures were taken several years ago, I did finish the doors to match.;) Jim

I took a similar approach to Jim's, but used squares of MDF with 1/4" or 1/2" holes drilled for the shanks.

Wrenches and inserts go in the side pull out drawer.

Festool router bit box.. I bet there is $1500 worth of bits inside.. I had no idea until I got it all filled up and organized.. I like that its portable..

I bought the foam blocks and put them in one big drawer, I can see all the bits and pick just the one I need.

I got to the point where I didn't want my drill bits, router bits, etc., "put away." So I build a rack where everything is easily accessible.

I just gotta say, this is the nicest router/tablesaw setup I've seen in awhile!
