Hi there,

If anyone will know the answer to this question I'm sure someone here will. I'm also a member of another site very much like this one but it's related to outdoor activities in Michigan. A member over there posted a picture of a couple of older mallets that she has. She's wondering what they're called. I think they're just referred to as mallets but I'm not sure. Here's a picture of them. Take a look and if you know what they're called if it's not a mallet please let me know.

Thanks !

John

They look like stone carvers mallets to me made from a burl knot.

Right...Carvers mallets....what Mark said. Used for tapping the end of a chisel. This summer, I'm going to make m'self a whole set of them to go with the chisels I never use. :o
