It might be a good idea to always read ALL of the "fine print".

Once the fire started the oven was unplugged and moved outside.
The fire continued to burn until nothing was left but a small black residue of charcoal.

Our barn door is now closed. At least for taco shells.

Who reads the fine print?
I'm glad it wasn't worse.

Man! That's scarey! Glad you were there to keep it from getting worse!

Just exactly what is in those taco shells that make them flammable?

Thanks for posting that warning. I usually just stick them back in the box, but sometimes they go stale. I never thought about using a resealable bag.

Oh and that fire thing too.

WHY are toaster ovens prohibited BUT your electric oven are not since both do heat the same way

Location of the heat element relative to the oily shell. It won't be close enough in an oven to ignite the oil.

And those things have a lot of oil in them. I'll bet they put on a pretty good show once they took.

Get out the autosol!

I would think because the hot element is much closer to the shell in a toaster oven than a regular oven.

In one of the survival shows on the Discovery Channel, one of the hosts used a crushed up taco shell as tinder to start a fire because of it's oil content.

turn 3 or 4 open side down on your microwave turntable and zap for 20-30 seconds. works a treat.

Haha oh man I made the same mistake quite a few years ago. Luckily it was an old toaster oven on its last legs, loml had actually ordered the replacement - she was like "the new one was already on the way, you didn't have to light the old one on fire!"

Really. It must be the most awkward product placement since James Bond ordered a beer in a recent movie.

Nice demonstration of the calorie load. I once lit a potato chip with a match to make that point. Almost put me off them.
