Hi All - This is my first woodworking project, an attempt at a smaller size reproduction of the Stickley #622 table. My wife has wanted a new table for a while and I've been itching to start the Roubo bench build so thought that this would be a good build for me to get used to working with large pieces of lumber as the tops are 1.5'' thick with 3.5'' legs. General Finishes gel stain did treat me well, after I figured out that it was important to REALLY wipe it off well in order to have an even finish!

My thanks to Marc (Wood Whisperer) and others who have given me some email assistance in regards to this project!

Appreciate any feedback!

Your wife should be proud, as that is a nice 1st project. You could just add a vise & there is your bench. Although the wood species is too nice for a bench. Nice artwork on the wall.

Nice job on the table. I also have to build one for us but haven't had the time. I also like the art. We get some every so often from the grandchildren. I like the progression as they get older. I still have some from my children when the were young & that was about 30+ yrs ago....

David,

Your table turned out great. You would never know that, that is your first project. I know your wife is very happy, and if she is happy, you are happy... Most of what I use is General Finishes. However, I have never used their gel stain. What top coat did you use?

For your first project you started out at the TOP. I would like to see your second project.

Great job, San

Real nice work on the table David, and in a style right up my alley..
What were the final dimensions after you resized it?

That table looks fantastic and is sure to be enjoyed by many generations.

The mortises/through-tenons look perfect, as far as I can tell from the pictures. For the legs, it looks like you cut matching dadoes and then glued them up to form the mortise. What about the stretcher, similar technique, or other?

David, I really like that! In fact, it's very simliar to one I have on my winter project list for our kitchen here. Your work is inspring and the joinery really turned out great!

That is a really nice table and the style and joinery is classic. Mortise and tenon really can't be beat for strength and beauty. Excellent job, like the final sheen of the finish too.

That is a beautiful table. Where can I find sticky #622 on this website? My wife would love me to build a table like that.
Thanks
Bob
