I beleave that I read on the forum that the best way to fill and reinforce knot holes in alder is to use black epoxy. What type of epoxy should I use and what is the best way to tint it black? I have universal black tint which could be used, just wondered if this would work?
Thanks for the help:)

I like WEST system and use it to fill worm holes in turning blanks. It takes about 6 hours to set up but that gives it time to really fill in and also gives it time for any air to work out. There is a quicker hardner but I don't know how much faster it may be. I've tried using 5 min. but it sets so fast there are too many bubbles, although it may work for knots.

I have always used clear epoxy to fill knots. I have found that the surround knot seems to color the epoxy and it blends in really well.
