I have a grizzly go555 bandsaw. Just got a new 93.5" x 1/2" blade and cannot seem to get it tensioned and adjusted. The book says that it will take a 92.5 to 93.5 inch blade. Her are my problems.

1. The blade is to the right of the back blade guides, both on top and bottom.
2. I have tightened up the tension but the blade is still a little loose on the wheels.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Called Grizzly and they were not much help.

Fred,
Did you check the blade length yourself?
If you are at the limits on the tensioner there’s not much you can do that I’m aware of.

Agree. You are at the outside of the possible band size. When you say that Grizzly was not much help, I assume that means that they could not make the saw go any further than it will. If you are out of threads, the band is too long. If you have a saw shop in town, they can take an inch out for you at minimal cost. Blades are a wear part so you could pick up a properly sized blade to use while that one is re-sized. My guess is that the blade is longer than labeled(?).

Shoot, I can't find the doc that explains how to solve this. I had the same problem when I had that saw. Is this the first blade yr installing on it? I believe you need to reset the tension. If you call Grizzly, they'll send you the 1 pager on it. It might even be in the manual. IIRC, basically, you loosen the tension all the way, then manually push the wheel up with the blade on to engage the blade, and set the upper and lower limiting nuts. From there you'll be able to tension properly.

FWIW, I used 93 1/2" blades all the time with my G0555. I'm surprised Grizzly was not much help. I'd try again.

It's in the manual on how to adjust for variations in blade length. I had to do it a couple of times when switching from one width of blade to another.

Some pictures would help.

Is the blade properly track on the wheels?

This is from the manual.

To replace the blade:
1. Slide the blade through the table slot, ensuring
that the teeth are pointing down toward
the table. If the teeth will not point downward
in any orientation, the blade is inside-out. Put
on heavy gloves, remove the blade, and twist
it rightside-out.
2. Slip the blade through the guides, and mount
it over the upper and lower wheels.
3. Apply tension. If the blade cannot be tensioned
as described on page 20, adjust the
tensioner as described in steps 4-6. If the
tension is correct, go to step 7. Note—The
tensioner must be adjusted if you are using a
different length of blade.
4. Remove the setscrew in the spacer indicated
in Figure 37 and rotate the spacer up 5-6
turns.

5. Turn the tension knob until proper blade tension
has been reached according to the
blade thickness scale on the sliding bracket
and fine tune as needed.
6. Thread the spacer down until it slightly
makes contact with the top of the sliding
bracket. Move the spacer back up the shaft
about 1-2 turns to leave a small space.
Replace the setscrew in the spacer and tighten
(Figure 37).
7. Check and adjust the tracking.
9. Adjust the upper and lower guide blocks and
the support bearings.
10. Close the wheel covers.
11. Replace the table insert and table pin, being
sure not to use excessive force when inserting
the table pin.
