A little over a month ago I posted photos of the 3ft diameter by 2ft walnut truck sections I recieved from a friend. 30 percent moisture content, but I had to turn a few of the scraps from cutting bowl blanks right away. Here are the first two pieces off the lathe. The background for the vase is a little strange, but I couldn't get a good representation of all of the color in that piece with my photo setup. This foggy morning I tryed outside on the front step and the photo is the closest I have to the real colors.

This HF is from a branch from the same tree.

Neat stuff and I have a whole pile to work through this winter. My sister also gave me 5 white oak trunks that range between 14 and 24 inches in diameter.

I have gotten a lot of walnut from people in the area, but none has ever had the colors and figure that tree has. Not used to seeing all of the colors.

Nice work Paul. That walnut has some pretty cool color. Most of the stuff I've gotten around the Twin Cities is pretty even color.

Is sure was foggy here this morning. I'll bet it was 1/4 mile visibility in Vadnais Heights.....
