I've got a few minuites this evening so I thought I might show you some of the projects that have been keeping me busy lately.
These three items are made out of Curly black walnut, with Mahogany accents. The coffee table and end table tops are book matched crouch walnut veneer, framed with quarter sawn mahogany. (Sorry the pictures of the tops had too much glare from the flash. But the grain pattern is very close to the door fronts on the Entertainment Center.) The coffee and end table are both constructed with Mortise and Tennon joints and pinned with mahogany. The aprons are both cut from one long board so the grain is continuous around all four sides. The drawers are made out of curly hard Maple with dovetails on all four corners. Finish is one coat of Dark Walnut Watco followed by three coats of thinned Poly and one coat of Minwax dark wax.

More Pictures to follow. I haven't figured out how to post mulitiples yet.

And finally the Entertainment Center. No M&T work here so instead of Mahogany pins, I installed a Mahogany bead around every opening. Here again the wood is Black Walnut. I used 3/4 inch Walnut veneer plywood for the case and 4/4 plain sawn walnut for the rails, stiles, and face frames. The lower door fronts are book matched Walnut crouch veneer over 1/4 MDF. Drawer construction and finish was the same as mentioned above.

I hope everyone has a great weekend,
Lee

Lee,

Very Nice Work Ma Man !!!!

Walnut is by far my favorite wood for furniture projects. The Mahogany accents set it off very nicely.

I believe that Walnut and Mahogany is just about the best combination there is. You have done a masterful job. Your pieces are beautiful.

..Glare? Highlights the furniture beautifully. Where are you getting that georgous wood? :D Walnut isn' t used enough these days. Folks making Mission furniture should consider. I love it.

Thanks Phil,
I get all my figured hardwood from Mike Mastin at "Curly Woods" here in North Texas. The flamed Walnut veneer came from Steve Jenkins' Scrap pile! :D This is the second set of three I've completed.
The first went to family and I didn't make a dime! The other two have been paying orders generated from seeing the original. Beginning to wish I hadn't used the Mahogany bead. It is really time consuming, but that seems to be a selling point along with the figured wood.

Have a great day,
Lee

....by work that people that I personally know are capable of producing :-) These pieces are really beautiful Lee.
The more I think that I know people, I realize the less that I really know about them :-) Your work is worth far more than these lucky folks are paying for your skills and time!

Excellent work Lee.

Hi Lee,

I posted after I read your first post, then I saw even more pictures of the endtable and EC. All I can say is that your work looks incredible, the way you brought the walnut and mahoganey together looks perfect, and that figured veneer, that really makes it all sing..

Great work,

Take care,
Jim
