I've got a King drum sander and I'm finding it impossible to change the paper. The latches that hold the paper are poorly designed and it's extremely difficult to get the paper snug enough around the drum.
Anyone have any experience with these things or any tips?
Thanks in advance

Steve,
I don't know if you have this http://www.ujr.ca/EN/PDF_Support_Files/king_canada_tools/manuals/king_industrial/KC-26DS_manual-eng.pdf it may help. I hope it does.

Thanks Kevin, mine is the 18", and I've got the manual. It's just a really bad design..

Steve and chance your starting on the wrong side? Mine worked a lot better starting at one side versus the other I just forget which (on the 26")

Thanks Glenn, but according to the instructions, I'm starting on the correct (left) side.

I don't have the king sander but I DID have a king table saw.I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I replaced in with a General Cabinet saw about 15 years ago.I had to re-adjust the saw almost weekly but haven't had to adjust the General since I got it.
The only tools I find as bad as the King are the Dewalt tools.

Why not switch over to velcro backed paper, I know Woodmaster sanders sell replacement stick on velcro for the drums

Thanks David, certainly worth taking a look at.
