That's really nice. Olive has such a nice grain! I like the form and the rock. I also like the texture on the lid..

Francesco - glad to see you are getting in some turning time - something we all wish we had more of! Always a treat to see your turnings because of the imagination you put into everything! Interesting combination of a bowl sitting on a rock. I like the textured lid as it gives the piece a sense of being weathered.

Nice work! Looking forward to seeing what you create next!

The wood is outstanding. I like that the void carries into the lid. I wasn't sure about the texture on the lid, but I've been back to look several times and it's growing on me. Thanks for sharing, Francesco.

Francesco,
Beautiful piece of olive wood and your matching of the void in the lid to the vessel is pleasing, like something carefully extracted from some ruins.
I like the distressing you've done to the lid, but was left thinking perhaps a bit of distressing to the vessel was needed too, even if just a small amount. This is a very minor issue, a nit as we say, so even if you disregard it, this piece is still a beauty.
Never heard of erica burl...but sure looks like a chunk of rock to me! If it turns like rock, I think you've found a good use for it as a perch.
Beautiful work...glad to see you find time to work on new material.
