Must be the season for making ornaments. These are a few with different segmenting. The bells are walnut and alder in reverse combinations. The ball and icicle are from tasmanian blackwood with maple veneer. All are about 5.5 inches.

Curt these are looking really fine, I love the pattern created in the timbers on the bells. Its scary how quickly Christmas seems to come round though....

Curt.........are the round ones hollowed out or just segmented solid piece? I was wondering about the weight factor?

Yup, they're hollow, about 1/8" walls. They end up pretty light.

Excellent work Curt! I like how the maple veneer adds just a touch of a separation and acts as a detail line. Cool! You sure have these forms down!!

Hi Curt,

Now you went and did it ...... your post got me started thinking about making some Christmas Gifts.

I do a good bit of segmenting but have never made a bell like these, the curved shape separating the different woods at the bottom of the bell is nicely done.

Have you ever put in print the your methods? Perhaps a tutorial is available, I'd love to make some of these as gifts.

Thanks,
Tim
