Invited the boys from work to lunch today so they could carry it in for me. I told them if they carried it in with no scratches or dings they get desert. Pineapple upside down cake. It worked.

For what it's worth, the word mubarak in Farsi (Persian) means congratulations and happiness or variations thereof and is usually said upon the purchase or gift of something new. (swmbo is Persian)

So, mubarak!

Hope your install went better than mine did today. Maybe the hazards of buying a demo unit but at least I get to find out right away how Trotec support handles their business. We should have a new PC board and an I/O board first thing Monday. They sure are pretty right out of the box.

The setup went well. First of all the laser was delivered with the tube not attached so it would fit in my door, so Mubarak had to assembel the laser. Second (oh dred) they sent me a 100 watt tube rather than the 80 watt I paid for! Some days you just cant win. LOL
Well Mubarak was here from 10:30 till 7:30. So plan on making lunch for him if you don't want him to faint on you. He worked nonstop. He assembled the unit and spent several hours going over the software and we made numerous samples. Very valuable instruction for a rookie. I still feel I have much to learn about the software but will get that in time. Only down side I would say was I was expecting the settings in the sortware to be spot on and idiot proof but they are not. Only in the ballpark and you have to tweek them quite a bit. All in all it was a great experience. Did I mention I got a 100 watt tube rather than an 80 watt!! Don't tell Trotec, cause I ain't sending it back!!

Tami, I am very sorry to tell you that newbies are not allowed by federal law to own and operate 100W tubes. Lucky for you, I have a 75W that I can swap out with you to keep you out of trouble. Please advise on directions. I'll be there by the end of the business day today.

That was close. You almost ended up in BIG trouble :)

But Scott,

I had a whole day instruction, that means I am not a newbie anymore!!

On the technical specs section of the quote I received, it says that 95w and above needs and input voltage of 220v @ 20 amps. Below that (60w - 80w) is 115v @ 20 amps. Interestingly enough the manual only makes a reference to 115v @ 60 Hz (U.S.) and 220v @ 50 Hz (Not U.S.) .

Did you have to make any electrical changes to accomodate the 100w tube? Or is it still plugged into a 115v source? Would the 100w tube operate as a lower wattage tube without the 220v? Or will it potentially overload a 20 amp 115v circuit?

Interesting Ron, Wonder if that is why my settings are soooo far off. I might want to rent one if those thingies that measure what wattage you are really getting.
