WW-related things to do in Boston?

I'll be in Boston this Thursday-Sunday with a few holes in my schedule and would like to see some cool stuff. I'm not interested in looking at/buying tools (WIA will take care of that), but I would be interested in any period furniture exhibits in town, tours of great mansions with beautiful casework, etc.

Hi Tony,

If you have time to get over to the Museum of Fine Arts, they have a new(ish) American wing with lots of American furniture- and the lower levels even have some exhibits on the construction of furniture. The galleries in this wing are set up as rooms in a house- for the most part- and they are generally not too crowded.

The North Bennet St School has an interesting gallery of student work(in the North End). And you can't go wrong with the food around the school.

The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem has some great furniture on display, they also offer house tours of some of the ship owners homes. The good news/ bad news is that it is Halloween month in Salem and the crowds can get large
