Woodwork: A Step-by-Step Photographic Guide to Successful Woodworking (for a beginning woodworker). It was published by DK Publishing. Overall a good book.

Many good books on Woodworking.
I would have to say " Measure Twice, Cut Once" By Jim Tolpin. My woodworking was noticeably better after reading this book. Funny part was I only purchased it because I found it on the clearance rack at a hardware store.

"Measure Twice, Cut Once" by Norm Abram. It is not a how to but information on hand tools. It is perfect for beginners, good read for old guys too, I make my students read it helps them understand the function and importance of tools.
