Hello all :) I haven't made a post for far too long, I've had a really hectic summer and have only had a chance to turn a few pieces in the last few months, things are calming down now and I have had a chance for a bit more (recreational) lathe time!!
This platter has been many months in the making..... Its made from an uninspiring piece of reclaimed Mahogany kitchen worktop (very popular here in the UK in the 70's/80's). The rim was carved by hand and it measures about 12" wide. The gold is gilt cream and the finish is spray lacquer. C and C welcomed.

Johnny,
If my memory suits me your past postings were kind of "dark and spiky". I like this theme a lot more. The flutes appear to be carved so that they do not cross the plate on the exact diameter. I like that effect. The mahogany looks good with the gold.
