I was clearing the overgrowth behind my house and found a burl half way up a small wild cherry tree. The tree was about 6" in diameter but the burl was probably 10". When I turned the burl the bark was very thick 1.5" or so. I ended up with this and another shallow bowl that I will post later. This is my favorite turning so far :), it is 3.25"H x 6.5"W finished with WOP.

That is a good looking bowl out of some really nice burl. A little thick for my taste but that is just me.

Yes it is thick, I left it that way because it has the look and feel of stone. It reminds me of granite or marble and the thickness and heft adds to the allusion.

Very nice bowl and wood. I really like the heavy thickness on this type of form!

Not sure if you are looking for C&C on this or not, so I'll just say I like it. ;)

I like it! The sharp angles, the form and the stone-like appearance of the wood give the bowl a 'Mayan' flavor in my opinion. Very cool!

I like the extra ditails they add nicely to the shape and just like the other piece the wood is so nice.
