There have been many advances in tool steel since 1980. See if you can find out more on the metal composition........

I have owned several of these Greenlee lathe tools----- nothing to write home about----- they work----- you will spent a lot of time keeping them sharp.

agree with others. Maybe $5 tops each.... No better than the craftsman set I bought about that time. I still use a couple of the gouges occasionally, but other than those, not good for much.
