Like many folks old photos interest me. Often pictures of people in attire of a different day are interesting. Most interesting is old photos of cities and areas from my own past and before.

This was posted on another forum with many of members from the San Francisco area.

Are there sites like this for other major cities?

How about small towns and areas.

Not necessarily cityscapes (although they recently had a load of old SF earthquake photos), but I enjoy the stuff from http://www.retronaut.co/ that drifts through my RSS feed.

How about a video. This was taken just before the 1906 SF earthquake.

Interesting in the first video at 1:30, the car is a steamer. I wonder how many of the cars in 1906 were steamers, there's a surprisingly large # of cars in that video. I guess it was an affluent port city, so there was money to buy things like that.

When you get to about 1:50 or so, you can see that car chuffing out steam under the bottom. Way cool.

This is one of my favorite videos of old San Francisco.

If you watch carefully, you will notice many of the cars are the same ones going past multiple times.

From what has been written about this video, there were a lot of people involved with its production.
