Check the Traditional Woodworker site for their selection of axes.

Who ever heard of a $1300 axe.

I'm not into timber framing, but it is interesting that these are available today.

It might be $1,300, but man thats a beautiful axe. I'd love to have one.

I assume you're talking about the "Finishing Broad Axe (Austrian Pattern)"? Note that there is an arc weld between the blade and the poll/socket part, not even cleaned up particularly well. That is just plain cheating on something you call hand forged. They could have built it up enough to forge and grind it clean and no one would be the wiser, but they barely blended the weld and left what my Dad called "chicken s**t" at the ends of the weld. For nearly $1400, that's pretty cheesy (and rather contemptuous of potential purchasers)!
