About 2-3 weeks ago I sent a piece of Palo Verde to someone up in the eastern part of the country. I had to cut the piece I had so it would fit in a flat rate box. Don't remember if it was regular or large, but here's what I made from one of the cutoffs. Last year this wood was a live tree that got blown over in one of our Monsoons. I sealed it with AS, and put it in a corner in the shade. I'm kinda glad the bugs got into it, but not as thick as they did. Pictures 2 & 4 show how they concentrated to that area. It must have been real yummy to them. I couldn't tell if they actually chewed into anothers track or not, but picture 3 shows where it looks like they kept their distance somewhat. ... I have more time picking and blowing out bug stuff than I had it on the lathe.....
6" OD, almost 4" tall, and 3/16" wall.... Unfinished right now, but will go with clear laquer as some of the bug tracks are still full, and would be pretty ugly if I stained the form. C& C's welcomed... ........ Jerry (in Tucson) 241819241820241818241822241821241823
