I have over a decade of experience with ULS lasers. I'm looking at a position at a company that exclusively uses Epilog lasers. They looked similar but the x/y axis motion system looked difference. How different are Epilogs vs ULS machines?

Define similar.

You have an old ULS so I don't know what features you have available.

If you were talking about the modern day machines, I'd say a couple of the main differences is one has a job control program and the other acts like a printer, you print the job, it goes over, and it's erased when the machine is turned off. There is no programmable Z-Axis on the Epilog that I know about. So you have to focus every job (or allow the machine to focus on every job). The rotary systems are different. The Epilog rotary is far easier to use and more flexible.

As far as the end result, they'll both be about the same speed and the quality will be about the same. The differences are more on the driver side of things.

It's all the same theory, speed/power/frequency(DPI) type things. If you can run a ULS, you can run an Epilog, no problems.
