View Full Version : Cedar Bowl with malachite fill

Had two cedar rough outs, I think the other one is trashed because the bottom is cracked pretty deeply. Can't tell for sure until I cut into it though. This is my first cedar bowl, not terrible stuff to turn.

10.5" x 4" Cedar, Malachite

Love the natural color of the Cedar! The Malachite sure adds a splash of color to the piece! Nice work!

Jeremy that is a great looking bowl. I love turning cedar for the smell and color of the wood.

You done good on the graceful form - as well as the beautiful wood. Reminds me I have some cedar "stuck back" under the front porch . . .

Beautiful wood. The bottom looks a bit fat to me, I would take a little more off the bottom curve which will give it more visual "lift" as well. I just got some Malachite myself and am looking forward to trying it out. I remember a Walnut bowl you did a while back with Malachite and I loved it.

I like you shape and use of the wood and Malachite. It looks like it is still without finish or wax. Are you going to apply some finish? I have some rough turned bowls and have been putting off returning trying to come up with a finish other than Danish Oil.
