get your knives out. I like to sharpen first on the abrasive side, then I flip the belt inside out, apply rough, and sharpen to a nice edge. You need to be super careful for normal kitchen use if you are not used to sharp blades.

I'm not certain what model, but I've already inspected it and it seems to be in great shape.

It's a model 31-340. Looks like this: http://www.amazon.com/Delta-31-340-1-Inch-8-Inch-Sander/dp/B00004T9JP/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I went back to the sale to get this sander, and ended up with some other stuff I probably don't need:

Delta 12" disk sander, model 31-120. $40. Includes a nice hose too. Looks like this: http://www.toolking.com/1/delta_31_120_12_inch_disc_sander_with_integral_dus t_collection_10537779.php. (Oh, nice score...!)
GreenLee, 10" folding handle drawknife - still in box - never been used. Model #635. $30. Looks like LOT #5 here: http://www.mjdtools.com/AuctionList.php?axcode=ic12&page=1&limit=100
Olympia machinist vise. Huge. 5" jaws, rotating head - opposite side for pipe. $25. Looks like this http://olympiatools.com/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=4677&osCsid=67f37a620f16b646759b803710e67f21.
AMT box set of gouges. Very little use. $20. Included 2 hooked knives and small brass caliper of unknown makers, and 2 leather finger protectors.
AMT Carving knives. Rollup set of 6. Never used. $10.
Short handled flat head Adze. German - "200 Jahre Ohsenkopf" (200 year, Ox head brand) 1781 - 1981 anniversary model. $10. Only used in the garden.... Looks like this: http://www.amazon.com/Ox-Head-OX350B0850-Flat-Carpenters-Handle/dp/B001E43EI6
5 "swiss made" carving gouges - in plastic pouches still - very little, if any, use. $20 for the set.
Shop stool, swivel, height-adjustable RITTER Model G. Manufactured 1977. Property of NASA sticker on it. Very padded, heavy stool. $10. (Best one I have now) Very heavy and industrial.
7 large Eye bolts - with square nuts, and 7 long square head/square head bolts, 12" - 15" long, all heavy zinc coats - the kind you find on top telephone poles. $5 for all.
Old Red Wing brand, bench-mounted motor with polishing "cone" on one shaft w/loose wheels on the end. (Other shaft bare). Very nice, multi-step "climb" of the motor when you turn it on. 3250 RPM I suppose. $10.

It seems the mandrel/shaft on the buffer motor is part of the Beall Wood Buffing system. The flap wheel itself is the White Diamond. And the motor is two speed. To the right, 1725 RPM. To the left, 3450 RPM.

Seems this little motor is made of gold. (It's a Dental "lathe", so, I guess "gold filling" would be more appropriate!)

http://www.atlasresell.com/RedWingModelSTD1DentalLabPolishingLathe16HP

That's my motor, but hasn't been dipped in white paint like that one has. $250!!!!

Too bad it's only 1/6 HP. Not sure it's really big enough to drive the Beall system or do any real cutting on metal.

Anyone got any ideas for an application for this motor?

Maybe my "application" will be to sell it and buy a beefier motor?
