Messing with some shapes today. I think this is the last of the larger rough outs I have of this :mad:

8.5" x 3.5" Spalted Elm Sanded, buffed, BLO.

Jeremy,
You are a production machine these days. All this beautiful spalted you you acquired must have inspired you to spand lots of turning time. Meanwhile the results have been quite beautiful. I like this beaded foot you are using. At some time on this site someone must have mentioned that don't like feet. Personally, when well done and fitted to the shape of the bowl, I believe they give the piece lift and allow the viewer to imagine if not see the continuation of the shape of the bowl. They work well on your recent posts.

Not a real common shape Jeremy...I really like it!! The bead foot is a great detail.

That's gorgeous! I really like the foot on that one that makes the bowl look a little like its floating.

Thank you everyone for the comments. I'm starting to think the bead foot is a good compromise between a straight shot to the surface the bowl is on and something more elaborate. In any case, I'll continue experimenting.
