Hi,

does anybody know the secret in which order Coreldraw sequences objects, when duplicating them multiple times along the X / Y axis ? I'm pretty tired to resequence them by hand in a logical order for the laser to cut, it's no fun with a couple hundred objects

Cheers, Andrea

It's actually pretty easy to see what's happening by using the Object Manager, but here you go...

Duplicating an object places the duplicate directly above or in front of the original object in terms of sorting order. Select both the original and duplicate objects and duplicate them, and each new duplicate is directly above or in front of its predecessor in sorting order.

If you are creating a rectangular array of duplicated objects and want them to be ordered, back to front, so they sequence across rows and then down the page, do this:

1 - position the original at top left
2 - duplicate it and position it at left and directly underneath the original
3 - duplicate that and it should automatically be spaced the same as you did in 2
4 - repeat until you have as many rows as desired
5 - now select the entire column
6 - duplicate it and position it to the right of the original column and horizontally aligned with it
7 - select this new column and duplicate as many times as needed
DONE

If you want the sequence to flow left-to-right across the first and all other odd rows, but right-to-left across the 2nd and all other even rows, go through the even rows one-by-one, selecting the entire row and use Arrange/Order/Reverse Order to resequence the row.

Thank you Glen, that helped.

If I understand what you want to do the step and repeat function will do that for you. It works horizontally and vertically.
