Is it possible to refinish marble that has been engraved on? I've got a bunch of slabs that I screwed up experimenting and would like to re-purpose them.

You start with a low grit silicon carbide sandpaper (80) and then move to 150 - 220 - 400 - 600 -800 -1000 -1500-2000-3000 grit. 3000 should bring the shine back to the surface.

Oops, I should have said Granite.

But thanks.

I just bought an air powered/water fed polisher for polishing the cut edges of granite.
It uses diamond impregnated pads in various grit grades from 50 - 3000 in increments.
It does a good job on the edges, so in principle it will work on the surface no problem apart from getting a flat, level surface.
I use a Gison polisher and adaptor for mounting the polisher flat and level.
The cost might make it not feasible ?
