A while back I ran across a competition called the American Art Awards. The contest is judged by a group of 25 galleries around the country so I figured it would be good exposure to enter.
There is no wood category so I entered "Sculpture, Non-Representational" which puts me up against a wide range of sculptures working in different mediums. I entered two pieces.

Yesterday I learned that I received a first place with one piece and tied for 2nd with the other.

You can see the results online at American Art Awards. I am in category 55.

Congratulations John! It's always nice to win an award for something you created. Especially against other art.

Congratulations John! Great pieces and you are right about the exposure; good for you and for wood turning as a whole. How did you hear about the competition?

Congrats John, your work (and yourself) definitely deserve it! So far every art show I have entered pieces in, it is always under the sculpture category. Such is life... Good job, and congrats one being number 1... and number 2!
