Good day fellow Creekers...

I am about to design and construct a patio furniture set using western red cedar. I chose this wood because it seems to be the better choice ( cost vs life ).

We will store the cedar furniture inside during the Winter.

My wife really like the cedar color but is concerned that I won't be able to bring back that red cedar color each spring with a fresh coat of finish. We know that untreated cedar will turn grey in a year or so.

Question is... what finish to use so that I can get back the original color each Spring without introducing a messy chore?

George, There is a guy that I work with who uses regular Behr cedar siding stain to keep his furniture protected. He said that he doesn't have to do it every year, but they are not in direct sun. Sounded like a good idea to me, so I thought I would pass it along.

I apply Penofin Western Red Cedar stain every other year. Works and looks great.
