I was the last one in on this one....was very happy to get what I did...it gives my new wood rack something to hold. I had a feeling I'd fill it up quickly!!

Enjoy your new old mahogany. Several years ago I bought out the mahogany pile of a retiring furn. maker, and the older mahogany is much finer grianed than the current crop. Better color as well. It is a pleasure to work.

Since I bought it, it has been, relatively speaking out of access, stored in a friend's indus. shop, under too much stuff, and forklift deprived. Now it is in the new shop, and every scrap will get used.

Alan, you are so right about the grain pattern. I think is they harvest trees much younger these days. The old stuff is a lot prettier.

My aunt-in-law wants me to rebuild several 1950's solid Mahogany doors in her kitchen. I guess some of the Mahogany will go to that. The rest will become something for the house.
