While I have a few that I know what they are, here is a "set' that I am not too sure of.240207One is marked as a #110, another is marked as a #120. That red one is marked as a H120 on it's iron, and the fourth one???Another view?240208 Need to thin the herd a might, so it would be nice to know what I have. That #110 has a SW iron, but a craked mouth. Another has a pre-SW era iron, and a third has a post SW era iron. I'd have to go look again to see what the fourth one is, but I think it is the Handyman's iron....

A 110 the same length as a 120, and yet, two other "120"s are that much shorter?

Slight differences in length are common over the life of a plane model.

As far as which planes to keep, it depends on what you want. If you are trying for a collection, sell the duplicates.

If you want a good selection of users, keep the best and sell the rest.

a look at some of the parts to these planes. The irons...240289240290Not sure about the short one, it seems to had a ridge all the way around it. The three big one are all Stanleys. l-r: Pre-sweetheart, a sweetheart, and a Handyman 1249. A look at a couple bases..240291base for the short iron, no other markings, except a "5" under the cap. Two more bases...240292the blue one is a Handyman, the black base is a #120, according to the numbers stamped on it. A look under the caps...240293240294 First two; the 120, and the Handyman. next cap; this is the cap from the 110, has the numbers "241' stamped into it. Like them wheels??? That knob on the first plane, the short "120"? Ever see a knob like that on a Stanley block plane? Steel bolt, as well. Strange planes....

Did a little work on the irons of these little block planes. Spent awhile out at the Back Porch Bench. When i got done, set up a Test Track of Tulip poplar..240350Not sure who made this little guy, no markings anywhere on it. Next240351Shined up the cap on the cracked mouth Stanley #110, seems to work alright... next..240352A Pre-SW Stanley #120, the 110 has a SW iron in it. Next..240353 Stanley Handyman H1249 Seems to do OK. There it is, my four Stanley Block Planes. I THINK they are all Stanleys, anyway....
