Jeff, that really turned out well! I like your selection of the wide boards for the panels too.

Beautiful wood and a beautiful piece of "Fine Furniture". Love Mission / Arts & Craft furniture.

Would like to see some more pictures. Side pictures, drawer pictures, & pictures with the doors open.

Great work..........

Jeff,
Beautiful job--+1 on more photos! What type of dye did you use and what was your mixture? Also, which color of gel stain did you use? Was this your own design?

I noticed you ran the rail dividing the bottom drawer units across the entire width of the case, instead of separating it with the stile. I think it works this way, considering the upper half requires continuous rails.

More details, please. Well done.

Away from home for work and cannot upload pictures from my iPad apparently, but I will post some interior and in progress pictures.

This was my own design based on several ideas combined to meet our needs. Mission oak transtint dye in denatured alcohol, followed by a general finishes gel stain, but. I will have to check on specifically which one. We were trying for a cleaner look with the full width lower rail. My wife is all about matching and symmetry.

Here are some more pictures, I didn't take any of the drawer sides apparently. They are 3/4 poplar with half blind dovetails made on my Leigh jig. The dye was Transtint Dark Mission Brown 6006 and Gel stain was General Finishes Nutmeg.

Jeff,
That is a beautiful piece. You should be very proud of it.

I noticed you installed the hardware before finishing. (I realize you would remove it before applying the finish) I normally do not install the hardware until after finishing. Am I doing this wrong?
Is there some advantage to drilling the holes before finishing?

I don't think there is a right or wrong way to do it. I put the hardware on before finishing to get "wife approval" of the hardware choice. I don't see any other compelling reason to do it before finishing, as you point out, it needs to be removed before finishing anyway. The only upside to drilling the holes for hardware prior to finishing is the ability to remove any pencil marks or tear out from drilling with the final sanding. I typically just use blue painters tape to make pencil marks on if measuring for hardware after finishing.

Very nice looking piece. Well done. I love that is a custom designed piece. Truly makes it a one of a kind. You should sign and date the bottom or backside of one the drawers. Likely that this piece will stay in the family for a few generations to come.
