I have a 6 gallon Bostitch air compressor that I run my nailers with. I have noticed lately that it takes forever to get the pressure up and it gets very hot. Any ideas on what could be causing this and what can be done to remedy it?

Is there a filter on the inlet that is clogged?

If it is oil-less it could be due for a rebuild

First thing to check is the air intake .. If its blocked, it will fill slowly, and thus get really hot ..

Compressor pumps are pretty simple.. if they are turning, and can get air, they will usually compress it unless it escapes.

Next thing is between the pump and the tank.. much less likely but check it out anyway..

After that, you could check the reed valve but your getting into wrenches..
