IPod/Phone/Pad Engraving

On the Epilog website there is a YouTube video showing them engraving a Martini Glass on the back of an iphone (old style with metal case). I thought that a CO2 laser could not engrave unfinished aluminum. Am I missing something?

It's anodized aluminum, not unfinished. They all laser pretty well but there isn't as much contrast as I'd like but none of my customer have complained - I always show them a sample of clear anodized aluminum so they can see what it will look like before I laser their piece.
