I was visiting my friend's hardware store when one of the clerks asked my friend a question. He had a Fuller #3 ish plane that a customer didn't know how to put back together. He looked slightly befuddled so I asked if I could do it. He handed to me- after a couple squirts of wd 40 to get things loosened up and a few minutes of fiddling I had it re-assembled and the elderly lady was happily on her way.
Finally my years of playing around with planes has paid off.
