I sat a cup of hot coco on on one of my curly maple end tables. Now, there is a white ring mark left behind as a reminder of my bone head error. I finished the top with lacquer. At this point, I have tried the mayo trick...nothing. I have have, also, tried buffing it with steel wool to no avail.

Any tips, short of sanding.... :cool: , would be greatly appreciated.

Donnie,

Here's a couple tips ... I haven't tried them myself.

[QUOTE=Bryan Nuss]Donnie,

Thanks for the links Bryan. I will allow this table to sit in direct sunlight and see if that helps at all. Tried the steel wool/lube trick with not much to show for it.

Thanks again!

Take a linen type towel, not a terry towel, and an iron. Set the Iron on the "Cotton" setting (very hot) and fold the towel so it is 3-4 layers thick. Place the towel over the white mark and iron the towel. Keep ironing and peek under the towel from time to time. As the table gets hot, the white mark will disappear. If the towel starts to scortch, let it cool a bit.

The white mark is actually moisture trapped under and in the finish. The heat will make it vaporize and and come out of the finish and the wood.
