What is the best way to remove the black stains on your hands from mesquite? I tried GoJo type hand cleaner, mineral spirits, etc. not much help. I had read that native americans used mesquite for black dye. It works. My left palm is really black.

Lemon juice with or without salt might do it. Works pretty well with with walnut stains. More extreme would be a mild oxalic acid solution. Neutralize with vinegar. More extreme yet...Clorox.

I wear a glove. :)
It will wear off in a day or two.

Like DD said, lemon juice. I have never had wet mesquite to work with, but the lemon will remove most of the black walnut stains, and metal stains from steep particles and chuck jaws.
