Here is a little different HF. I sketched this idea out and hadn't intended on applying it to this particular form, but it evolved into this! This is a large HF, for me. Quite the departure from my usual 4" of so sized HFs. Turned from sycamore and african blackwood for the finial. Add a bt of pyro work, a little dying, a LOT of sanding and reapplying dye and this is the end result. Sealed up with 4 coats of lacquer.

6 1/2" wide x 12" tall.

Comments are always welcome, thanks.

Wonderful piece, Scott. Ditto on the finial. You've figured out that with so many people using articulating rigs and lasers that take a lot of the difficulty from making hollow forms, artistic surface embellishment adds something unique to your work. Without that artistry, the hollow form is the new bowl. I like the subtle nature of the decoration.

It's a wonderful shape, the texture of your bands is very nice, I like the pattern, the finial, and the color. Well executed piece Scott.

Very neat. How'd you do the banding?

Jeff, The pattern was drawn on the form with the aide of a compass and then burnt in, line by line, with my woodburner.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

I really like your work and the work on this is definitely your usual outstanding job. That being said I have to say I don't really like the pyro I think it's just the shape of the design,it just doesn't appeal to me. The shape of the piece and the finial I think would have carried the piece. Of course everyone else likes it so it must just be me.

Scott,

That is a cool piece. The photo does not show it off to well so I feel I am not getting the full impact of the piece.

Scott,
Extremely nice piece. Your design is sensational and your finial is just as sensational. Your design on the Pyro pattern is also amazing. This piece works so well. Well Done.

Thanks for the comments everyone, you too Harry! :)

Alan, you'll get a better look at this one....this weekend. Then I wouldn't mind a critique of what you think of it in real life!
