Hi all,
I recently found 2 old routers in my shop collecting dust. Both are hand-me-downs from my father in-law. One of them is an old 12 amp Skil 299 router (made in the USA). I removed the motor from the base and this would work perfectly for a permanent router table router. The only drawback is that it's not variable speed.
I'd like to mount this in a new router table lift. Added complexity is that I have a $300 gift certificate from Lee Valley and would like to use that on the lift. Lee Valley sells the Kreg lift and Jessem lifts.
The router motor has a 4" diameter housing. When I research the Kreg and Jessem lifts, they list many current routers that fit their lifts but do not list general specs of routers. Can I mount my old router in either of these or will I just end up returning a unit because it won't fit this router?
I have no experience with router table lifts, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
